With more owners tackling home repairs and upgrades themselves, more than 1,000 surveyed about the do-it-yourself projects they’re doing during the pandemic. Two of the top motivations for taking on home improvement projects during the pandemic are enjoyment (49%) and mental health (34%), according to the survey.
Home improvement may be good for mental health, but not all projects have been successful, homeowners admit. For example, refinishing furniture requires a technique that may be tough to get right. Homeowners say refinishing furniture is their least successful DIY project, the survey shows.
